Tracey Michol was appointed to the Texas State Independent Living Council in 2005. She brings an understanding of the needs of persons who are deaf or hard of hearing to the council. She believes the road to living independently and productively leads through education and learning by those needing services, those administering the services those setting policies.

Ms. Michol received her Masters Degree in Deaf Education and Deaf Studies from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas in 2004. She completed her undergraduate work with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an Emphasis on Entrepreneurial Studies from Gallaudet University in Washington D. C. in 1996. After a combined six years of experience working in corporations and teaching in public schools, Ms. Michol is now the Director of Education for the Deaf Action Center in Dallas, Texas.
