Kristen Jones serves as the SILC Secretary. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Texas in the field of Multicultural Special Education with a focus on transition issues of culturally and linguistically diverse students with disabilities. She currently works on a federal teacher preparation grant in multicultural special education at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas.

Kristen previously taught reading to adults with developmental disabilities and has run numerous mentoring programs for high school aged students with disabilities. Kristen is also a board member for the National Youth Leadership Network a non-profit organization that fosters leadership development in youth with disabilities.
