About Texas State Independent Living Council

The Texas State Independent Living Council (Texas SILC) works to make Texas a place where people with disabilities have more opportunities to live independently, make their own choices, and participate fully in their communities.

Texas SILC is a nonprofit organization led by people with disabilities. Our members are appointed by the Governor and represent communities across Texas.

We bring people together to identify needs, improve access to independent living services, and develop a statewide plan that helps shape the future of independent living in Texas.

Independent Living. Stronger Communities. A More Accessible Texas.

WHAT WE DO

The Texas SILC provides for the development, monitoring, and the evaluation of the State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL) that establishes the framework and guides the Network’s delivery of Independent Living Services.
